Trifle with an Asian twist

by Ed on July 18, 2005

Melbourne’s version of Longrain may be delayed by concrete cancer but we are hardly suffering thanks to Ping in Port Melbourne.

We’ve previously enjoyed the Asian salads and can’t get enough of the Peking Duck or the Yum Cha. But it is the deserts that brought the real joy this sunny lunchtime. Try the trifle. At $11, it is served in the sort of glass usually reserved for a stiff G&T and has citrus striped layers. It’s creamy topping is sprinkled with crispy caramel. We dig in and breakthrough the green sponge to a lychee jelly.
