What is it about chefs and Laos? Anthony Bourdain is obsessed with all that Vietnam war stuff. And Dan Zeidan from Piadina Slowfood (rear 57 Lonsdale St (enter from Punch Lane), Melbourne 03 9662 2277) has been out there. Dog lovers probably shouldn’t read on. In fact, I can’t write about the dogs although I hear that the rodents are very good.So there was Dan on the bus and a young boy in front of him is smiling. The boy passes him a large jungle spider and indicates to eat it.Being the ever-curious f–die Dan bites into it. Crunchy but soft in the centre. It tastes of lamb. So now we know what spider tastes like.As for Piadina its already been spotted by the local broadsheet, The Age, for it’s slow cooked stews and pies and”soulfood at soulfood prices”
