In case you missed it Gourmet Traveller is searching for a new restaurant critic for its restaurant annual.
As usual with these competition things you assign ownership of the review over to the magazine and are paid nothing. Even if you lose.
It’s annoying, if like me, you make money from writing for a living. The last time I assigned all rights to a publishing company would have been 15 years ago. Generally, they buy first use and electronic rights.
I wonder how that affects bloggers who enter the competition. Should we enter and potentially breach copyright by publishing our reviews on the web also?
On the plus side is a prize of as ludicrously expensive $5,500 Faema E98 espresso machine and a $595 Mazzer commercial grinder.
You’ll need to be an Aussie resident and to stick to 500 words.
You can email your entry here.
