Interesting self-debate ... I too was disappointed with the 4mp Pentax, even though the earlier 3mp that I got for my sister/her family was wonderful. I DID find that the macro function was, surprisingly enough, far better than what I get on the pocket-sized Nikon Coolpix S1 I settled on ... even though there's no way I'd ever go back to the Pentax (and in fact sold it).
