Melbourne food bloggers night

by Ed

trust1.jpg It was digital cameras at 40 paces last Wednesday for the first ever meeting of Melbourne food bloggers. Sarah (who also is cooking Nigella here, Jamie and Cin plus myself showed up at noisy night at The Trust, 405 -411 Flinders Lane, Melbourne (03 9629 9300) celebrating the defection of Brit chef Spencer Patrick from Molecular cuisine HQ Fenix in Richmond. Plenty of wine flowed and eventually the food turned up. At this point I was experimenting with my flash for the first time so you’ll have to visit Sarah for her food pics. When I finally caught the waitress, I ate the Carpaccio of beef (celeriac remoulade, truffle mayonnaise, parmesan), deep fried, okay tempura, zucchini flowers (stuffed with Milawa goats cheese, basil and sauce vierge) pannacotta with jelly and berries and my personal favourite, the chocolate soup with marshmallow raft served in an expresso cup. It was a bit odd to follow it with a salmon roulade though. We all seemed to get on pretty well and found ourselves decamping to the excellent and cheap Supper Inn, 15 Celestial Avenue, Melbourne 3000 (03 9663 4759) for some more chat, tea, Crispy Suckling Pig and some greens. BBQPork.jpg I think I can safely say we all enjoyed ourselves and look forward to another meet with all the others who couldn’t make it next year.
