England Being half Pom (and half Aussie now) I have an expert knowledge of English beer. I was brought up betwxt country and town. I’m going to forget, for now, anything with a widget or in a can (or with the words Watneys and Red in the same sentence) and go for good old real ales. For this match I field a bottle of Abbott Ale. With 5 per cent alcohol it is fruity and has a great hop balance. One of my favourites so no brainer.
Paraguay For Paraguay, Pilsen, which recently won a Silver in the American Cream Ale or Lager at the World Beer Awards is fielded. In all honesty there is no match for a beer of this style to a tasty ale such as Abbott. And seeing as I can’t find Pilsen in Melbourne, Abbott wins by default.
BEER WINNER: ENGLAND
