Poland I’ve fielded a handful of polish beers the key breweries being Zywiec, Tyskie, Okocim, Lech, Brok and a few others. Most of these are owned by the multinational beer companies. The Zywiec with 5.6 per cent alcohol by volume (abv) was pale and had a very clean hoppy taste, too light perhaps. It is owned by Heineken. I also tried the Zywiec Porter, which was sweet, and strong at 9.5 per cent. It certainly had a kick on it, which may be why I woke on the sofa at 1.30 am with a strange taste in my mouth.
Ecuador The main beers in Ecuador are Pilsener, Club and Biela. Sadly most of the beers in this beautiful country appear to be carbon copies of those weak American beers. According to Epinions.com the best is Club with a good hoppy smell and no noticeable taste from preservatives. It’s getting towards being a classic Pilsener (which the above Pilsener bears no resemblance) but isn’t quite there. As much change as the US winning (remember the sponsor is the American Budweiser. What a travesty that drink is.)
