From the ladies loo…how to stop teeth turning red

by Ed on July 20, 2006

A weekend drinking tip thanks to Kate from Sydney, down the pub, Friday night:

We’ve all had the problem, a night on the full-on smack in the mouth Aussie Shiraz and red teeth the next day. Accoriding to the girls hanging out in a certain Sydney pub loo you start the night with Shiraz and work your way down to something lighter rather than the other way around.

This is my own variation on the tip:

1. Start the night on shiraz (diluted with only the best tap water if you have to)

2. Move down to perhaps a cabernet sauvignon

3. Merlot

4. Perhaps a Viognier (Could I get away with a shiraz/viognier?)

5. Sangiovese

6. Pinot noir

7. And finally, wsh your mouth out with Grappa.

8. A night drinking that much wine has to be finished by the best kebab you will ever taste at Lambs on Spit, 245 Malvern Road, South Yarra, vic 3141 (+61 3 9826 8201). Roasted on a horizontal spit over a charcoal (that’s right no electricity or gas) fire. Also an excellent place to find a taxi.

9. Home for a Fernet Branca and more chat (the Tour de France has finished by this time).

Then there’s always those teeth bleaching kits if this doesn’t work. I guess those are for the times when you overindulge for days.

Cheers Kalyn. I’m not sure about the teeth bleaching kits as wine eats away at teeth a bit. check out the teeth of wine people and they are not that great. In fact, I’m told that many wine tasters don’t brush their teeth before a tasting as it protects their teeth!
