Yes, it is young. But the 2004 pinot noir from Pier 10 on the Mornington Peninsula isn’t a bad dop. At 14 per cent alcohol it is strong but not in an over-the-top way; you won’t need to add water to it to make it drinkable. It’s full bodied with those wonderful apple-like flavours that I really like in pinot.
Actually, I like everything about it but the price: $165 for six.

I’m getting seriously worried that high alcohol wines seem to be the norm these days and charm in a wine seems unfashionable. 14%, I bet it isn’t, though I will say $27.50 for an Aussie pinot doesn’t seem too bad.
i supose you’re right on the price, especially from the Mornington although you can get a decent drop for 420 if you dig. Agre on the high alcohol.
