Dear mystery blogger,
Unpromising though this laneway looks, it is typical of Melbourne. The city is full of hidden bars and restaurants. Down this dead end beyond the dustbins and the backdoors of Chinese restaurants and surrounded by graffitti and stenciled street art is The Croft Institute, a bar kitted out like a science lab.
If only the cocktails were as good as the location and the street art!

Regards

Ed

And I mean it about the drinks. Stick to beer, wine or straight spirits.
Today (1 August) I send my postcard to a mystery blogger somewhere on the other side of the world. Organised by Meeta at What’s for Lunch Honey in Germany, I too should be receiving a card from somebody and will post what I receive then.

That’s an awesome picture of the alleyway - and I agree about Croft, much prefer Gin Palace any day :)

Thanks everyone.

Ellie, you’re right the Gin Palace is the best.

What an intriguing postcard!

Hi Ivone, it is homemade and quite frankly I wonder how it will travel being printed out on that Canon postcard-sized photo paper - none of the commercial niceties of varnishes etc to protect it.

Great looking place.

I love the thought of hidden bars and restaurants! Especially when you discover a gem. This fact alone about Melbourne would make me come out there and visit (thats how crazy I am about food).
