Monsieur Truffe, a real Frenchman with an accent (but not a comic Gabrielle Gaté one) has become one of the most popular makers of artisan chocolates in Melbourne, as I’ve said before. Today, he was away making herb (rosemary etc) truffe while I was photographing the stall at Prahran Market. A shy Mademoiselle Truffe was there today instead.
I posted two varieties up to Saffron at The Food Palate in Sydney while I believe Cin from A Few of My Favourite Things is also delivering some in person this weekend.
Look forward to reading Saffron’s take on what I at least think are the best truffles in Australia. Also I can’t wait to see what homemade goodies she has for me.

I was chatting with him a couple of weeks ago and he is apparently about to launch a range of chocolate bars soon. And mountain pepper is my favourite too!

Cin, I know it’s dangerous there now. I ended up with half a kilo of Felchlin Grand Cru Cocoa Criollo when I picked up Saffron’s truffles.

I bought a packet of the rosemary truffles and they’re gorgeous. The Bolivian ones also got top marks. Mmmm. Mountain pepper is wonderful too, I agree!

Why, oh why did you have to write about him? Now I’ve found him there can be no rest for me; they were simply the best chocolates I’ve tasted in a very long while. Curse you Tomato!

Neil, welcome to the (very) dark side.
