Spicy chorizo going places

Rapidly becoming the signature dish at Bar Lourinhã (37 Little Collins St, Melbourne +61 3 9663 7890) is this very spicy flaming chorizo sausage. The first time it is lit the whole room goes silent as it waits for the jumping flames to damp down. Then, suddenly, everybody is ordering it. And it is very hot and spicy. You need to like meat for this one.
The good news is that these guys are looking to export their take on casual dining to Sydney, possibly somewhere like Surry Hills. Rival Spanish joint Movida I believe has already found a site in Sydney. I just hope they don’t replicate the current Ikea-style design and go some something a little more casual. Although, what do I care as I live in Melbourne.

That looks rather phallic!

I guess they are not known for their vegan delights.

Be still my beating heart…Chorizo… king of sausages… I must go there. Next time I come to Melbourne Ed, you are taking me out. My last trip was full of both dire coffee and average food.

Matt, look forward to it. there’s a lot happening right now. Loads of new bars and restaurants. Some sort of rennaisance and I guess i should try and fin out why.

Gill, It is very meaty and very phallic. If you really want to put the men at the table in their place all you have to do is pick up the knife and slice…
