Katie, I'm sure the BBQ is neccessary (really)
kalyn, I've neer heard of the American Greek Salad but may try it as by the end of summer Jak is always fed up with the regular one. Thanks ofr the comments on the writing although youmust be missing the typos, missed words and capitalisation mistakes. As for the BBQs I supose I'm fed up with visiting people who take more care in choosing their machines than cooking their food.
Helene, the greekis best isn't it.
Sue, it's a shame you can't fid lemongrass. I know my salad looks good but i do feel itis a very plain effort against all the ther great posts.

[...] And finally there is me with a basic Greek salad which simply has to be made with dried oregano. “…the name origanum comes from the greek words oros and ganos meaning ‘joy of the mountain’, the fragrant herb growing on mountain slopes.” Tagged:Ingredients Recipes Weekend herb Blogging weekend herb blogging #67 [...]

Type your comment here.
This salad looks gorgious. You are perfectly right about the oregano. It must be Greek, I use those from Zypria and now wait for weeks because the next paket doesn´t reach our market stand.;((

One more thing. I have a quite spectacular gas barbecue which was only about $300 US. Even has three separate burners so you can make different parts be different temperatures. I'm told you can bake bread on it (my brother the fabulous Rand has the same one) but I have not tried it.

I do agree completely with your greek salad rules, in particular the parts about dried oregano (be sure it's Greek oregano too) and lemon juice. I would also include a rule that it must be Greek sheeps milk feta. I like to put the olive oil, lemon juice, and oregano in a bowl and let the flavors blend while I'm cutting the other things. Does that meet with your approval?

Of course, I also like American Greek Salad, which is a completely different thing, has lettuce and my favorite is with Blue Cheese Dressing which goes so well with the Feta.

(BTW, you're a great writer. Have I told you that lately.)

The salad looks lovely!
I agree, some things have to be eaten fresh.
As to the BBQ, we have 3 plus a smoker - I don't know why but the DH assures me it's necessary...
