Congratulations to Jamie at The Breakfast Blog who has won a Bloggie – the blogging equivalent of an Oscar – for the best Australian or New Zealand weblog. Sadly, timezones and deadlines conspired against getting this into the Herald Sun this week.

Other food blogs awarded were Help! I have a fire in my kitchen (best food blog) and the Cooking Diva (best Latin American).

I wonder what the criteria are for best blogs. If Help! etc won, then obviously design isn’t one of them. I hadn’t seen it till a moment ago but I thought I’d gone back in time 50 years. Maybe the content is special.

I think The Breakfast Blog looks good though, but does anyone sense a “sameness” with a lot of OZ blogs. Maybe there is a popular template/application.

Melissa, you deserve it.

Pietro most of the templates are standard and most bloggers aren’t html designers so they are very much the same. And how much can you do will a chronilogical listing of entries? it’s basically a choice between two or three columns with a few twists.

Well the “Fire” blog certainly looks different. Though not in a good way to my eyes at least. I wouldn’t have the patience to plough through it.
