Has anybody noticed the number of extremely decadent, dark chocolate puddings on Melbourne restaurant menus right now?
Does anyone fancy nominating their local favourites in comments?
I can think of four, including this self saucing pudding was from Bottega (74 Bourke St, City +61 9654 2252). I lunched there yesterday trying out new chef Riccardo Momesso’s menu and sommelier Magnus McManamey’s list. And, yes, it was a freebee.
What is particularly interesting is McManamey’s list of waters – great for people who can’t drink through illness, pregnancy or simply personal choice.

It looks like an echidna approaching. Where’s the cream?
Would that echidna be approaching backwards?

There were some strawbs and some cream lurking somewhere behind the the pudding but dangerously close to the echidna with the pink spines.
