You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video I’ll post a full review of our sneak preview of the Interlude ( 211 Brunswick St, Fitzroy +61 9415 7300) winter menu soon. For now here’s blogger Richard Berry and the glass straw.I should add that Interlude and its chef Robin Wickens and staff are very blog friendly. The restaurant is one of the most innovative Australia and they recently added a blog watch to their website. If you haven’t visited the restaurant before you’ll see a glass straw is placed before the diner. It contains parsley jelly, apple purée, herring roe and cauliflower purée. The idea is to suck on the white, cauliflower end.It is part of the rollercoaster experience at Interlude where the diner is challenged to open his (or her) mind to new experiences. I was first and worried that there was too much in the pipe for my mouth and that I’d gag on it. Eventually I sucked and the delicious ingredients – perfectly matched – shot in to my mouth. The experience of sucking on the pipe was somewhere between, I don’t mean this on a bad way, sucking on a crack pipe and a cock – something neither of us were used to. Richard Berry in particular felt he should be doing it in private, taking it into the loo perhaps.Well here he is for all the world to see. Why am I doing this to him and not me? Because his video was much funnier than mine.As I said, the full commentary of the meal will come soon, possibly in multimedia form.
