G'day. If you're new here, and you are interested in the Melbourne food and drink scene you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or the email newsletter below. Thanks for visiting and enjoy eating and drinking in Melbourne. Cheers.
My late Aunt was quite eccentric. Not only was she arrested by New York cops at her daughter’s wedding (she was trying to break it up as there was a black person involved) but she had this obsession with boiled eggs.
I swore off them for years because she insisted on serving them with afternoon tea when as a child we visited her in Mill Hill, London. But now I have my taste for them back. With a vengence.
Most days now I “go to work on an egg”, as the advertising slogan devised by copywriter Anthony Shaffer (who was managed by Fay Weldon) said.
All I need to decide now is to cut or smash the top.
What do you do?

Looks like smashing is the people’s choice!

Very timely post, ED.
And that was one of the great advertising lines.
Definitely cut. And the egg is too well-done for my liking. It should yield to the thrust of a buttered toast soldier. The trick is not to thrust too deeply at first lest the yolk spill over.

Kitchen Hand, you are right it is too well-done. An aberation although I prefer that than underdone and a runny white. Thanks for the link. Perhaps I shall up my daily intake as I could do with losing a few kilos.

Slowly but am hoping to get it up and running again by the end of the week.
