As a chef I do see both sides of this debate, I personally have no problems with the idea of fresh fg in oz yet also respect why people don’t like it due to how it is made.
I can only say that with respect if you don’t like the idea of it don’t eat it.
People who say it is cruel must look at all areas of food industry and question it all, cattle and lamb shipping to overseas and the conditions of which they have to deal with. Also what happens to the animals once they are in the country they were sent to.
Those issues have been raised already and will be raised again in time soon enough.
They might not be force fed and die in a harsh way but cattle and lamb on the boats are squashed together tight as sardines in a tin and bugger all air.
Look I just want to say that I understand those against it but those who are must be this strong about all other animals and creatures great and small and then they need to become Vegans!
Once you become a Vegan then we can blame you for global warming as you eat the plants that help trees reduce CO2 and we who eat meat will come after you and force feed grain down your trap and then have your liver with some bobby veal and spatchcock terrine. In the end HARDEN THE FU*K UP!!!

Foie gras production is cruel, 99% of the meat industry is cruel. If you wont eat foie gras because you think it is cruel then you are either a vegetarian or a hypocrite. I’m an ex-butcher and farmer btw

you are hardly EVOLVED when you are talking about a 4000 year old tradition. Thats just a contradiction in itself. Why is it banned if its not cruel…. I get it, you want cheap battery eggs and cheap bacon .I cant convince you of humanity, you either have it or you dont, and clearly you dont.

Look I have been lucky enough to enjoy the delight of Foie gras on the continent, it is an absolute pleasure to partake of in moderation. I would never be so bold as to try to impose my values on the people of Gascony, it’s their cultural inheritance. I also feel the same way about those who eat horse, whale, and yes even dog as the Koreans do. If cruelty is an issue, I guess we should outlaw battery hens as well, I also hear pig farming ain’t that pretty! there goes my cheap bacon. We could all go on about many things.

To all these tree hugging vegetarians, yes I’m stereotyping here for sure, get a life!
If eating a tournedos rossini is wrong, i don’t wanna be right.

I agree with Michaela; living mammals like her who suffer from such stupidity on a daily basis all their life IS cruel and a law should be passed to stop them from suffering any longer, using some nice humane way. Lucky enough Foie Gras has been around for over 4000 years and will continue to be for my and other more evolved gourmets’ enjoyment for many centuries to come. Now all you ugly hairy foreversingle girls, go back to watch virtual guys online! It would be cruel to let you approach any of them in real life!

To Shane ,I watched your video and I still believe its cruel, ducks crammed into pens and force fed, who knows if they are in pain Im certainly not going to believe the owner of the company. There is a reason why its banned in so many countries,banned by the pope and PETA Which is People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals .You make this product underground for a reason , thank god you cruel people are just a minority…….

u people who work at those undergrund factiry farms are cruel. would u like it if u were force fed and tarpped in without much space and not seeing daylight for the rest of ur life? i don’t think anyone would. i agree with adam and trust me if u were in their position u would never like it.
