A home made steak and kidney pie sits upon an island of mashed potato stranded in a sea of peas drowning in brown gravy at The Hotel Lincoln (91 Cardigan Street +61 3 9347 4666).
What more do you want to celebrate the cold, wet squalls on the eve of the winter solstace? Well, a log fire, possible some beer – stout I guess – and plenty of red wine.

Ah, some pastry would come in handy. The whole winter/warmth/cosiness thing is about the meat nestling inside the pastry and making little puffs of steam as you open it up.
Makes me cold just looking at it.
Pie porn indeed, that’s one delightful looking dish!
The pie looks great… but what does home made mean when it’s from a restaurant ? Is there a certain level of sloppy/rustic charm that needs to be in place before something qualifies as home made ?
KH, hat, gloves, scarf, coat and it’s still cold.
Ellie, put you internet pie porn filters on.
Matt, I think it means they mak ethe things themselves in small quantities rather than buy them in. Ditto their sausages.
