562 posts and 2,110 comments later today is the second anniversary of this blog. Originally I envisaged Tomato as an blog about ethical consumption but after one post realised how much work that would be. After a blip in my workload I promise I’ll be back blogging as normal from tomorrow.
But first I’d like to ask: what is it about the number 11 and my family?
The menu above was from a reunion dinner from the 11th July 1922 85 years ago when my paternal grandfather Edward Charles, who was retired from Gallipoli with dysentry only to find himself on the Western front, got together with his college mates who survived the great war.
But today is also the birthday of my mum’s bit of stuff, Ray, who I’ve now known for several years longer than my father.
His joining the family meant that we all now have our birthdays on the 11th of the month

Congratulations! I have been googling a bit and found a bit about 11:possesses the qualities of intuition, patience, honesty, sensitivity, and spirituality, and is idealistic; purity; “In Numerology – 11 represents impractical idealism, visionary, refinement of ideals, intuition, revelation, artistic and inventive genius, avant-garde, androgynous, film, fame, refinement fulfilled when working with a practical partner. Eleven is a higher octave of the number two . It carries psychic vibrations and has an equal balance of masculine and feminine properties. Because eleven contains many gifts such as psychic awareness and a keen sense of sensitivity, it also has negative effects such as treachery and betrayal from secret enemies.”; “11:11 – or derivatives of these numbers – 111 and 11 – are digits that repeat in time – thus a metaphor for reality as patterns that repeat in time for us to experience. This can refer to the rise and fall of civilizations – our personal experiences and lessons – loops in time – whatever – they are cycles of time that create and recreate following the blueprint.” Pick and choose and/or enjoy. Personally I believe in coincidences.
Wow! I didn’t think of googling 11 and that’s amazing. I hope I have at least some of those things and want to read it that way – hoping it’s not like the star signs that often seem generic.I am not sure I can read into these things without bias. I do have a practical partner, would like to think I have a certain avante-garde inventive genius etc etc but think, after coming home from celebrating I need to absorb all this. With my maths hat on coincidence is statistical. But still…
How about a side blog doing pyschic readings? Happy Blogiversary mate.
Good idea. Where’ve you been? Painting?
I don’t know much about numbers (in fact, I cam close to failing math back in high school and it still makes me break out in hives), so I’ll leave the numerology and analysis to others and just congratulate you on 2 years of blogging!
Nice work ED – Happy anniversary – The 11 thing is weird – The menu is from the 1922 – exclude the century and you have 22 which half of is 11 – …….Or was that what you are talking about?
