Yabbies: those beady little eyes watched me to the end.

Children, the elderly and the emotionally unstable should stop reading now as this is about the death and destruction I have brought upon the animal world, sometimes with my bare hands (in the case of game).

You’re belittling genocide with your absurd comparison.

And genocide already implies masses, no need to repeat that…

Marc, I’m not intending to belittle genocide but comment on the absurd amounts of yabbies and other animals I’ve wiped out.

The word is a metaphor in this context. Though it is probably one word I wouldn’t use metaphorically.

It does conjure up a certain sense of execution and slaughter which you do get from the edibalisation of many crustacea together.

Meanwhile I am sitting here moaning with desire….

David, appreciate the comment. It is a sensitive and emotive word and very sensitive, you’re right. But it sort of does sum it up. Thanks.

I guess some people can take offence to that word, but I think it was blatantly clear from the context that the word was just used to emphasize a point.

I remember catching yabbies when I was younger. I tried to keep them as pets but they kept killing each other. So instead I poured them all into hot water and ate them. They were tasty indeed.
