I realy enjoy mexican food but the only way to get a mexican dinner is by making it myself although it fun to make i would like to buy it ready made I think scotland should have more mexican restraunts instead of chineese and indian restraunts.
If you know of any traditional recipes that are really worth making please e-mail me at jazza_sammy@msn.com

Misuzu's was my place for a comforting bowl of Oyaka don :( I expect it will take a while for then to rebuild. Meanwhile I guess Eis, Naked Japan and Mum Kasama will pick up the slack. I'm not fussed that there's no great Mexican venues here - plenty of other great eats to be had instead.

Thanks for the 'birthday e' and reminder about blogging it. I ate my 'dish of the year' at Pearl on the big day: One side only seared yellowfin tuna, sweet smoked fish salad with galangal and kaffir lime $39. Wasn't tempted by the $60 retro grilled lobster dish with ice berg lettuce & potato salad. Drank some lovely Spanish plonk - an 05 Lusco Albari

The flaming Lamborghini involved a large fishbowl, several quarts of alcohol, something to colour it blue (possibly curacao), lots of people sucking on plastic straws in said fish bowl, trying to drink as much as humanly possible before the flames a) burnt thru the plastic straws or b) our fringes caught fire.

It was the 80's.. what can I tell you?

I was feeling kind yesterday especially after Jak received a voucher for a free something or other for Taco. Most of the stuff we are pushed is TexMex isn't it?
What is authentic Mexican food? Bluecorn is St Kilda did some interesting fresh and light food wrapped in the usual burrito/Quesadilla etc when it first opened. Perhaps it's time to try Los Amates.

PG, I want to know more about the flaming Lamborghini.
Gregg, maybe I'll phone Shannon and ask. Perhaps he's do a different pinata hanging from a different lampost in Little Collins for everybody at the table. Or would it be deconstructed, i.e. some newspaper, flour, water and a packet of sweets.

Event though there are no "real" Mexican restaurants in town there are a lot that are better than TBs

I'm sure if you asked Shannon would do a Pinata - it may have fois gras and pistachio foam in it, but I'm sure he would.

You enjoyed it??!!

I have studiously avoided Taco Bill's since the Great Flaming Lamborghini Night of 1989.

Should I seriously reconsider??

I recently decried the lack of any authentic Mex in Melbourne on Chowhound... Even a fellow Mexican Chowhounder, whom I met up with, said there was NO authentic Mex in Melb. Even Mexicali Rose and Tres Tacos didn't meet with her basic Mex standard. Los Amates, according to her, was the closest thing to "real" Mex food.
