Regional producers day at Lake House

by Ed

The Lakehouse in Daylesford is a big supporter of local produce and should be commended for the work its work in the region to develop them. It features them on its menu and many other restaurants could learn from the example. It will be showcasing local producers throughout the gardens, orchard and Terrace Room on Sunday 10 February. The reasonable $5 entry fee covers tastings from the exhibitors including Tuki Trout, Oss Eels, Holy Goat chesses and local honey, pasta and organic veggies and fruits.Cooking demonstrations will be held every half hour. And while the designated driver sits there looking miserable, passengers can booze it up, feast on the BBQ and woodfired pizzas while jigging – or at least swaying – to live music.

We enjoyed an excellent lunch at The Lakehouse last year. Ambiance, food and staff – all were excellent.

Hi Barbara, it’s the staff that impressthe me – military precision. And we met an old face from the now closed Luxe bar where we used to hang out when we visited last year.

We’re planning on heading there. Gives me an excuse to purchase a pie and another regional vanilla slice for the review blogs while we’re at it.
