Thanks Kylie for the belated apology! I've informed the remaining "Underbelly" boys that their services are no longer required so you can rest easy.

I had a chat with the aforementioned ginger (at a Ginger Victims of Shallow Women meet) and he said that he was a little distracted by the functionality of the Foxtel IQ remote while you were indulging in the "experience", he asked me to pass on his apologies for not being fully focused on the task at hand, his excuse was that trying to figure out the remote was the "lesser of two evils".

Still, well done on gaining your "Ginger" badge. Hope you wear it with pride.

Davy,

Please accept my a(late) pology about the ginger comment - hair colour is not *quite* in the same leageue as a deformity, I know.

You'll be pleased to know I've actually shagged a ginger, and the experience wasn't altogether unpleasant...

I can't stand anyone with a nose ring or stud in a food place. All I can think of is snot and dribble.

As someone that works in OHS, I don't know of anything that prevents someone from serving food with stitches in their chin.

In fact I would say it is against the Equal Opportunity Act on the basis of either physical feature or impairment!

With "deformities", I had a friend who waitressed at Il Bacaro and stacked her bike, which ended in her getting stitches in her hand and having to wear a bandage around her hand and her chin. Even though there was no pussing, bleeding, etc... I was with her when she said she was ok to work again, but they still wouldn't let her, not only because you wouldn't want someone with visible stitches passing you food, but they said it was still against OH&S.

Personally, I don't think this wasn't harsh, they were being responsible.

I know of places/people that will not employ people that look like they have a tendancy for acne. And places were staff have been suggested to take leave without pay until coldsores have cleared up. What about employers paying for teeth to be 'fixed'?? It all happens - in Melbourne.
We all like to look at the pretty people, and this can be worse in the hospitality industry. Were judging a book by its cover can mean the difference to getting the great job in the fancy place or the okay job in the quiet restaurant.
BUT remember readers, we may giggle at the pimple, but they are definitely getting their own back quietly chuckling in the kitchen at your round tummy and the fact that you ordered the skinny latte with the chocolate pudding and should not have bothered. ;)

I think the fact that Quantas have older cabin crew might be more related to the fact that they have implemented hiring staff externally for the last few years as part of a contingency to avoid possible industrial action by their own workers.
On the surface it may appear to be an equal opportunity 'Kodak moment' but perhaps it is really a strategic & defensive decision.
