Wines of the month

Wines of the month

Make that two months. And I haven’t included the screwcaps. Or the beer. Or the spirits. Oh dear.

Anyone game to name them all? Don’t worry too much about the vintages.

And some Brown Brothers, perhaps an Orange Flora & Muscat for the ladies, a Pieropan Soave, as well as a decent sav blanc (Sancerre).

Ed,

I’ve been fretting about my alcohol intake of late, it’s comforting to know that I have company. Goodonya…as they say.

Did you have the Quinta at St Jude’s or Bar Lourinha? Nice drop.

(ponders whether 10:20 is too early to have a wee sip of Alvaro Castro…)

Davy, its never too early…

Good god that is a lot of wine. I thought 2 bottles each on the weekend was too much. I feel better now

Dave, if there was a prize you’ve won it. Scorpo was a pinot. 2 x roda – 1x reserva. Pinta Toro 2003 (average for the price).Brown Brothers Riseling

Neil, BB RieslingI think for the laddettes who drink too much Chablis and Albarino – Grazaban.

Davy, I drank them at home, quite possibly alone and quite possibly awoke with spittle running down my chin. 10.20 perfect time for a Castro Martin.

Ran, try two a night. Did I say that?

There is a reason I throw the corks in the bin, photos like this!

Good to see a lot of Spanish gear in there. Yep, 04 Pinta is disapointing for the price, the 04 is a bit the same. You’re better off spending the extra $30 on Alion.

Sounds like me, slippery slope, but it’s a nice ride on the way down.

Reminds me of a couple of lines from that great Scottish (and ginger) miserablist Malcolm Middleton, the song’s called Blue Plastic Bags…

“The whole world’s going home with blue plastic bags/Six bottles of Stella, Jacob’s Creek and twenty fags.”, substitute the alcohol with your tipple of choice. He cheerily goes on to cement the concept with “Staying in is the new going out”.

A bottle and a half of the red stuff later and I’m heartily singing along, fishing about in the plastic bag for my fags.

(Alcohol and fags are a recurring theme in his songs, god bless ‘im)
