I never noticed any dogs (there might have been a few, though, but I didn't notice them), the coffee was always perfect, and on top the food always excellent. You should have mentioned that. I fell in love with the little recycled bottles of brown sugar - but that's probably because I live in Adelaide and we're about 5 years behind Melbourne's cafe culture.
