G'day. If you're new here, and you are interested in the Melbourne food and drink scene you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or the email newsletter below. Thanks for visiting and enjoy eating and drinking in Melbourne. Cheers.
Where is he? The Gobbler and his previous blog The Garrulous Gourmet have been taken down. All that content gone. It’s funny how bloggers come and go. Some people fade away and The Gobbler has gone out with a bang simply because he has other priorities in life. It’s a brave thing to give up like that and switch off all the content. Rita has a post on it.
All I can say he is a huge loss to the local blogging scene and the Tasmanian scene in particular.
This is his last post as you won’t find him any more:
“I know a lot of I would like to thank all who read, commented, enjoyed, disagreed generally contributed to the evolving personality of my blog.
I have decided that it is time to move on and concentrate on a new chapter in my life.
I wish everyone well and might comment from time to time as the gobbler.”
We all forward to seeing you around, Gobbler.

A sad loss to the blogging community.
I hope he pops up again under another blogger veil at some stage, I hope this is not linked to the ‘outing’ of his identity, from various sources.
Anonymity can be important to some bloggers that find it in their professional best interests to keep things separate. Lets all respect each others needs, sometimes a little mystery makes it exciting.

Sad… it’s definately a loss.. I have to concur Jackie, a little mystery goes a long way… Ed, let’s hope he pops up under another name and no one ever knows… Vida
Gobbler has a magnificent turn of phrase. He is a man with great passion, initiative, insight and joie de vivre. I’m glad to call him my friend and wish him all the best in his other creative pursuits.
I will miss the breath of Tassie air that his blog brought into my life when I felt jaded or uninspired, but understand that Blogging can at times become a millstone or even a distraction that takes you away from some of the magic in life. It’s great to see that he is focusing on new adventures. Hip Hip Hooray!
Hear, hear.
Best for all your future culinary ventures Gobbler.
May your souffle always rise.

I’ve only recently started to read The Gobbler’s blog and was going to start going through the archives. When I saw that he was gone in the Purple Goddess’ post, I though, heaven’s forbid, that he had died. Now I realise that he has just stopped blogging.
Blogging is only one aspect of all our lives. If the day comes that I don’t enjoy it anymore, I’ll just give it up completely too. I would probably keep a record of my blog just for my own sake.
