Thermonixer, that was Charls Ryder's point that Rex was vulgar - I hope you aren't drinking the other stuff.
KH, but he never got to eat koala when he visited Australia on his wine missions.
Pat, Auberon is great and I think we have most of his books. I should try the faint mist myself sometime.

I just loved the "faint mist of chives" when I first read it and have been shamelessly "misting" my recipes with chives ever since.
Met son Auberon when he addressed the Press Club in Wellington many years back. I have the latter's The Entertaining Book published in the mid 80s. He wrote the wine and wife Teresa the food. It's gorgeously illustrated by Glynn Boyd Harte. Probably out of print by now. I picked it up at a secondhand-book shop for $8 a few years back.

Think it's about time to dig out those videos and relive Brideshead. Thanks Ed for reminding me.
Only thing I might disagree with is drinking cognac from warmed buckets. Small tulip-shaped glasses are my preferred vessel. Keeps the flavours and alcohol in the glass rather than relesing them into the atmosphere before reaching the table (or leather armchair in the old boys' club, what?).
