G'day. If you're new here, and you are interested in the Melbourne food and drink scene you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or the email newsletter below. Thanks for visiting and enjoy eating and drinking in Melbourne. Cheers.
Yes, yes, yes, I still haven’t worked out to edit sound on video. But this, from Midsummer House in Cambridge, wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for Ferran Adria who I interviewed on Monday.
He gave me more than my allocated 30 minutes. At least that’s what I think. I was due to see him at 9.45 at The Langham. We started a bit late but when I next looked at my watch walking past Crown it was 10.55.
It’s strange interviewing with a translator and when I think back it is a bit like a dream where sometimes he answered in English. But I’m not sure.
I’ve posted this as a amuse bouche for my full post which will come next week.
Work is crazy right now and it’s a bit like the storm before the calm, which I’m sure will hit freelancers like me (and probably restaurants) in February after I return from southern India.
This will give me plenty of time for crazy social media and food website experiments. Who wants to join in?
Food Fascist seeks house sitter
- I’ve just come out as a metrosexual with my white iPhone
- If I am a gastrosexual, I’m still in the closet. (Thanks to Ruhlman for the link)
- Give me pig for breakfast though. I’m still not ready in public to eat smoked salmon, avocado and poached egg.
- Wanted: responsible house sitter for one month over Christmas for tiny vegetable garden two small dogs and a cat. Fairly cool house is in cute St Kilda street five minutes to the beach. Espresso machine, broadband etc but old fashioned TV set. Mini Cooper S, two bicycles and Extracycle come with the deal. Email me or leave a comment.

Hey Ed, drop me a line about these “experiments” you speak of.
Hey Ed~ I am kicking myself in the ass for leaving the country. I would have LOVED to housesit for a month! Ah well. Hit me up about these experiments!
Hi Ed, just flicking thru’ Liam Tomlin’s book Banc from 1999 and one of the photos is of his oyster vichyssoise topped with caviar in glasses surrounded by smoke from dry ice - ahead of his time?
BTW - what sort of experiments do you have in mind?
Leena, Shame but hopefully another house sitter will come along.
Thermomixer, could be ahead of his time although Adria started in 94. Who knows?
As far as the experiments go I think there is an opportunity for a good food and wine website in Australia run by a group of like-minded people with an Australian focus. Iwas thinking of modelling it on the thedailybeast.com in being linky which was sort of what I was doing with foodandwinedaily.com. I just need the upcoming recession to bite so I have a bit of free time to corale people into it.
